We all have worked really hard to make this year a special one be it working tirelessly for our career growth, studying hard to crack that dream exam or even following our creative pursuits….Whatever it was….It’s time to reflect back and even do ceratin things which can make 2023 really special…Here are certain things that you might want to consider doing before you bid Goodbye to 2023:
- Reflect back on the Year: As the year draws to a close take some time out to reflect on the blessings and learnings from this year. Consider your achievements, struggles and special moments. These reminiscences will remind of how proud you should be of yourself for all that you have accomplished and also for all that you have gone through to become a more refined and strong individual…Whatever it be…Remember…All is well that ends well!!!
- Gratitude: We all come across moments and people who remind us of the goodness in life. So, don’t forget to send a thank you note for all the people who have helped you in any way. Be it your boss for his mentorship or your subordinates for the wonderful support extended by them or even to someone who has helped you develop a new skill or referred you for your dream job. Also take out some time to express gratitude to your family members and friends for their unending love and support. And most importantly thank God for giving you this moment, for all the times you knew that there was no one but him to support you and for his blessings that guided you and many times even saved you from the unexpected and unforeseeable problems. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing remember God, people, opportunities and moments that you will always be thankful for.
- Financial Review: Since it’s a holiday season for many of us so make the best use of it by reviewing your finances and also plan for the next year. Consider your budget, expenses and savings. After all you will be never as free as you are now and its always best to plan in advance if you wish to make any big financial decisions next year.
- Organize and Declutter: If you are someone like me who is enjoying this time sitting at home and not rushing for any trip then declutter your living and work spaces. Many times decluttering works effectively to heal your cluttered mind. And as a personal experience I feel that whenever you start cleaning your wardrobe you often find something very special, something that reminds you of a beautiful moment of the year. Save this souvenir and the memory it holds and start the new year with a fresh and organized mindset.
- Connect with Loved Ones: Do you remember the last time you talked to your favourite cousin or even visited them? Because of time constraints and work schedules we are unable to connect with people that matter to us so why not rejuvenate the friendships and relationships. Give them a call or plan to meet, whatever you decide to do trust me you will feel happy connecting with people whom knew you when you were young and this catch up will definitely make you feel the same age again. So, reach out to them, send holiday greetings and spend some quality time together. It’s always wonderful to go down the memory lane with the people you love.
- Network and Connect: Reach out to your professional circle and friends. Send them New Year Greetings or schedule casual catch-ups. Networking is immensely important and making some efforts in maintaining connections can open up new opportunities for you in the coming year.
- Prepare for the New Year’s Celebration: What better then preparing for the coming year with something that you really enjoy doing. Don’t follow the rat race and rush to the most happening party in town, off course you can do that but won’t it be better to spend the new year’s eve with the people you truly love and do things that makes getting up to the first morning of the year with a smile rather then with a hangover. Party to relax and unwind the beauty of the coming year with a smiling face and a relaxed mind.
- Set Goals for the New Year: We all make New Year Resolutions and mostly end up in compromising on them but this year let’s try to be different. Just making some resolution won’t work unless you do. So, start your year by developing a new habit, something that will help you in realising your resolution. Everyday try to spend atleast fifteen minutes for this. By doing this even for a week you will realise that you are closer to realising not only your New Year resolution but also your true self.
So, as you prepare to say Good Bye to this year, remember to be proud of yourself for doing things that made you smile and if this year you have lost something or someone then trust me the coming year will bring you wonderful moments that will make you forget your pain.
Here is wishing you a fabulous wrap to this year and may the new year fill your heart with love, contentment and happiness that you have always dreamt of.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024!!!
